6 weeks in udon thani issan Thailand pt 3

OK so i booked the morning flight that means i have to get up early first time this trip but after today i need a rest but still time for a couple of beers in nutty park i like the uptoyou bar and the black and white both good places cat the owner of up to you bar is always very pleasant i remember her working for Steve and mali years back next door to where mojos is now they seem to always do very well even before on the so called soi falang there bar seems to do most of the food for nutty park they do a very good cheese burger and fries not typical Thai food but we all need a falang food fix sometimes anyways its back to my room at top mansion for a early night the place is very clean and been a pretty new building everything still works


but the big downside is the noise this time round with the day and night centre not far away and 3 bars very close plus the constant clip clap of feet up and down a light sleeper might find this place not suitable but lucky for me i sleep like a log especially with a few beers in the tank so the 350 baht a room with air is good value even with the noise morning arrives nobody open for breakfast so i take a pre booked taxi car to udon thani airport 200 baht don't fancy a tuck tuck which i would normally take to the airport i think i am getting soft these days well udon thani airport keeps on getting better and is a pleasure to fly in and out of its a far cry from 10 years ago



i check in very quickly and grab a little food in the upstairs restaurant they mostly do Thai food with a buffet for about 150 baht running all day but i settle for fried egg and toast and a cup of tea about 120 baht pricey for Thailand but try getting that in a western airport for 3-4 dollars my air Asia flight to Bangkok is on time that's a good start



there is something i like about air Asia they defiantly have the best dressed air hostesses that's for sure and not bad looking either and if you book in advance you get a good price even with the massive add on.s for tax and the rest 1700 baht to Bangkok is not half bad

6 weeks in udon thani issan Thailand pt 2

well after a hectic first week our thereabout in udon i decided on a day trip to nong khai after a good nights sleep caused buy a beer tiger overdose a certain fella caused Brian was to blame if you read this brain i hope Holyhead looks after you until your return anyways i got myself out of bed in good time so hear goes road trip to nong khai

easy to do the rayong nong khai bus passes buy central bus station just over dignornely from the complex 50 baht to nong khai third road bus station in luxury and a short journey compared to the old clapped out non air i think i am getting soft in my old age

but the air buses run pretty regular but its still worth checking the times a short wait could be offset buy a cold one in mojos our steves bar ok well i made it to nong khai  if its you first time there i would head for the river to get orientated

basically you have the river and a row of restaurants then a road behind that that runs the full length of the boardwalk broken only buy the Indochina covered market then a couple more road and buildings separating them running adjacent to the river

nong khai is easy to find your way round most people stick around the first and second road where you will find Brendon's bar a few hundred meters past the covered market the bridge side Brendon's bar

was where i thought i was going to have a quiet couple of hours not so just as i had finished my breakfast some of the ban dung boys turned

up so i weakened and ordered my first tiger beer of the day 10.30 am this was supposed to be my day of the sauce but what the heck i wont get the chance when i am back to the grindstone in the uk so here goes

after one of the lads banged a few times on the roof to wake Brendon up is bar staff informed us he was not pissed upstairs but in India no wonder he did not come down so we proceeded to enjoy the view nong khai is a great place to chill out there's even if there's not much going on

well its was another good day out i made it back to udon thani for a chicken cordon bleu at the Irish clock i think i offered Steve to pay for it twice so i must have been slightly half cut buy this time i decided a few days in Bangkok where in order so i made my way down to the here travel agents 042 244305 next door to mister tongs new bar a very helpful Thai gay guy runs it and ba boom i am booked on the early morning 08.35 air Asia flight to Bangkok
